Dr. Ravindra Nanda of Avon, UConn Alumni Endowed Chair, professor, and chair of the Division of Orthodontics, has been chosen to be the keynote speaker at the 109th annual meeting of the American Association of Orthodontists in Boston May1-4. The yearly AAO conference is the largest orthodontic meeting, attracting more than 20,000 participants from all over the world.
During the John Valentine Mershon Memorial Lecture, Professor Ravindra Nanda will discuss the many changes that have taken place in the field of orthodontics over the past 40 years. The presentation will focus on biomechanics and how it is the critical element between current and future technological advancements. Dr. Ravindra Nanda will discuss how simple and efficient biomechanics-based appliances can significantly reduce treatment time by eliminating side effects.
Professor Ravindra Nanda has been at the University of Connecticut since 1972 and has done extensive research into a variety of topics. In recent years, his major interest has been to develop patient-friendly treatment devices to reduce overall orthodontic treatment time, clinical orthodontic trials and application of biomechanics in a busy orthodontic practice.
